hello ac, i was doing a fishy cycle about 2 weeks ago using 2 zebra danios. they both got ich, and eventually died. i moved to a new house and decided to start a fishless cycle. just to be on the safe side i wanna do an ich treatment on my tank. the water i used to put the tank was probably close to boiling. now its at 86 and i also used iodized salt just to be safe.
1. will anything i did affect my cycle?
a. the iodized salt
b. really hot water
c. cleaning the tank with a new sponge

rough blueprint of the fish i want like to have in my 10g tank:
atleast 4 zebra danios (glowing ones)
atleast 4 corys preff. pandas or sterbais
i would love to have harlequin rasboras if theres room
is it possible to have a betta too?

whats a good quantity for the fish i want? thoughts/suggestions please.

if you are fishless cycling the tank you should not have to worry about the ich
the tank will be fallow while it's being cycled..the cycle takes about 6 weeks(way past the life cycle of ich)
as to stocking danios school so maybe up the ante on them to 6-8

as for cory's(another schooling fish) again you should have 6 of these..but this is pushing the stock level of your tank.

if you let everything dry out it shoudlve killed off all of the ich.

you may want to consider neons instead of danios. neons are pretty colorful and are more suited to a 10 gallon. you could have 3 or so panda corydoras with a school of 6 neons
nope, i liked the danios i had before, they were very active and playful

If you like playful fish, you might to want also consider platys. They are big and bright and always interacting. Plus, they are very cheap.

For a ten gallon tank, however, they might get too big. Maybe plan on having only 3.

Danios are too boisterous for a tank of only 10g, and that is why you shouldn't put them in there.

I agree on the platies, though, or guppies... Most livebearers have a streak of playfulness
