there are some ich that are resistant to salt. I had a strain that salt had no effect on..I wound up using ick gaurd (sample sent to me from jungle labs it has salt(sodium chloride) , formalin and victoria green.
the ick was gone in a few days and has not returned. that was 2 months ago. generally i would try sodium chloride and raising the temp.
the tank that got infested was a discus tank with black neons..it is one of my quarantine tanks.
the temp was 84..usually high enough to kill ick..but not this one.
I suspect the black neons brought the infestation. a really good reason to quarantine fish. the discus and neons were in quarantine.
