Ich: Is this a good plan?

I have been watching Jobu for quite some time tonight and I think he is flashing. He has done it a few times after he swims and the flashing is mainly against the gravel on the bottom.

Waiting to treat ich is only a danger in the case of large outbreaks. It takes a good bit of ich to kill a fish and especially a fairly hardy Cichlid. It is always better to have a sure diagnosis. I Don't see anything in the pictures that makes me think ich right now, but the Clamping is definately a sign of some type of problem. If flashing is random and fairly constant, I'd say go ahead and start treatment and run full term. Cichlids will flash as a sign of aggression to each other, but that is usually indentifiable as such since tqo fish will be involved, and flaring and taunting happen in conjunction with the flashing.

I am thinking now that he may have fin rot rather than ich. His fins are looking really bad (worse today than yesterday) and he has a hard time swimming. Everyone who has seen the photos says it doesn't really look like ich. I am going to stop by the pet store tonight and pick up some Maracin (sp?) and see what that does. My poor fishy.

I have an ich outbreak right now, and all my fish are acting normal, just with little white spots. Some of these fish are more sensitive, such as Blue Rams and Clown Loaches. I don't see any sign of ill side effects.

I too have the question about plants... I've heard stories both ways.. but I think in general, you're more likely to lose more delicate plants... but in the short term, they should be OK... as long as you get the salt out through frequent water changes. That's just a guess, I know nothing.. this is my first ICH outbreak.

I don't think you have ICH..
