This isn't an ordinary ICH question. Several of neon tetras died, because my friend cured the tank with the salt and raised temperature AND with anti-ich cure, containing malachite green.

Did those fish die because of combining those two? What exactly happened? I read many times that salt alone cannot kill tetras, catfishes, etc. Can that be some oxygen deficiency or something else?

Thanks.

I don't know if he did the water changes. However, he didn't use any charcoal and all other fish (including ancistrus) are fine! I think he didn't test the NH3/4.

He thinks that salt caused the deaths. I doubt that.

Many tetra species are sensitive to medications. Some meds say don't use them with tetras and others will have special instructions for use with tetra. My guess is that he may have medicated too heavily and with the suddon change in water chemistry and temperature it was just too much for the fish to handle all at once.
