I just saw a couple of spots on my loaches. I am treating with Jungle Ick Clear. Can I treat with Melafix at the same time?

I'm not sure Melafix is appropriate to treat the "spots" you see on your fish.

Can you describe the appearance of these spots? Size, color, texture, etc.

I don't want to use the Melafix for the ick. I wan't to use it to treat any skin irritations that may occur from the treatment. Though I am using half dose, I have lost clowns before because of the secondary infections from the ick. I was thinking more for preventative messures.

Sorry, I wasn't aware the "spots" you were talking about was the Ich. Some very experienced people here have not seen any beneficial results from using Melafix. Many others claim they have.

As far as everything I have heard, Melafix is safe to use in every circumstance I am aware of.

But I'm not an expert by any means. I've used it. Seemed to work very well. But I have not proven that the Melafix was the real cause.

Melafix is not for ich.

If melafix cured everything that it said it did men would be drinking it to stop male pattern baldness. It claims to do all sorts of things.

In reality. I have found that it is only good in helping to heal minor wounds and or cuts.

The rest that is promised in my experience is BS. Just more really good marketing.

The best ich med for scaless fish if you do not go with the temp method is either formailin or quinine. Both can be used at full dose with scalless fish and other weaker fish like tetras that you would normally have to half dose with the other meds like malachite green.

As I mentioned above, I would not be using Meleifx to treat the ick but to prevent/aid any skin irritations that would result from the Ick Cure. As I have lost loaches to these problems before.
