ick treatment

i'm treating my 55gallon tank for ick, with disolving tablets, how long do i leave the carbon out of my filter?

Don't replace the carbon until you've complete the ich treatment. Treatment should continue for 2 weeks after the last spot of ich was seen.

should i put the bio wheel back in? will the fish be ok without the filter cartridges for that long?

You've removed your bio wheel -- did it dry out? If it's dry then all your bacteria is dead. You have to keep it wet --

Salt + heat works FAR better and much faster than meds and there is no chance of killing off your good bacteria.

I agree. I just turn my heat up and add salt for a few weeks and I havent had a fish die from ich in a decade.
