he looks like a common pond snail, what size tank is he in?what are his tankmates?

He used to be with a bunch of guppies and some bottom feeders in a 37 gals tank. Now he's with 2 baby oscars and some bottom feeders. Do you know any good snails that will eat algae in a planted tank? Thanks

that looks nothing like a common pond snail... unless they start to look like that after getting bigger than the max size of .2in that i see in my tanks... i dont know what that one is that is picutured tho...

good snails for eating algae but not plants would be MTS snails, Ramshorn, or pond snails, they are also a good indicator of if your overfeeding or not, as their populations will explode if you over feed, and decline if you feed correctly

Do you have any pictures with something else in them to give some comparison so we can tell the size of the snail? I am not sure if that is a pond snail...it almost looks like a Viviparus or a Neritidae (which is actually a saltwater snail that can adapt to brackish or freshwater tanks).

Is the snail green or does it just look like it is. I thought pond snails were black.

Thanks for the replies .. yes, he is green like that
here is another picture for size ref.

I think so ... I found this neritidae on google which have almost the exact shape

I would guess a Nerite because of the barnacle looking back, I could be wrong though. AZ Gardens sells them pretty cheap.

Take Care!
