ID Please

I got this piece of coral on my new rock that I just bought and am not to sure what kind it is. Any ideas? This is the best pic I can get of it.

Just a guess (and my guesses tend to be wrong), but it really looks like the stump of a coral. When we cut a xenia, the stump looks just like that until it's able to regrow it's 'arms'. Either that kind of thing, or a mushroom of some kind. Is it soft or hard?

It is soft. So if it is just a stump, it will regrow? Do I need to feed it anything? I dont have any other coral in my tank, its just a fowlr and I dont know much about corals.

It really depends on what exactly it is. For stumps, we've never done more than invert feeding, but in a tank with few filter feeders, this will likely cause more problems that it's worth. You could target feed it with the water you dissolve frozen foods in--might help, would be better than adding anything new.

But, I'd wait and see if anyone else has a better idea. As i said, I am a poor guesser on this stuff.

Can you take a pic from above? Tough call with a profile shot. Any firmness at all to it?

Looks like a partially closed shroom to me, but as others have said it's just guesswork from that pic. From the top, is it round? Is there a mouth in the center?

There is little firmness to it and it is round at the top and there is a point in the middle that could be the mouth. I dont have that great of a camera so these are the best pics i can take.

That's a garden variety mushroom coral, Discoma spp. They are fairly common hitchhikers and are really easy to care for. What kind of lighting is over the tank? Shrooms don't require much, but with a little bit of attention it will multiply and make a nice little colony.
