Ideal Temp.????

Dont worry about the pH. As long as it is stable they will do fine. I know a lot of people who keep discus in a pH of 8.2 and on down to 5.0 with no problems at all. They can and will adapt to almost any pH value...as long as it is stable. Stability in the pH is the key. If someone else says otherwise, then I must have about 500 unhappy discus sitting in my holding tanks right now, lol.

In regards to water changes, I was thinking I would do the usual 30% weekly.Any suggestions? I have seen and heard so many opinions on this. I use an EHEIM 2213 and an Aquaclear 50 powerhead with a sponge filter attachmnent for extra filtration. I really wish I got the EHEIM 2217 at least ,but I think I will be fine. I was also told I could use peat in the filter to lower the ph which I think I might do. I have had the discus in the tank for 3 days now and they seem to be doing good. Their appetites are growing now as I fed some brine shrimp to the tank and they came out and had a bite then went back under cover. They however are still a little skittish . Thanks for the replies. As long as people answer and offer advice I will keep asking for it!!

84 is fine. They can and will thrive in a temp range from 82 to 92.

In all honesty, it is ideal to do daily water changes. BUT, that is not practical for most hobbyists. So, if you can do 50% water changes say atleast 2x a week, then they will do fine. I do 90% water changes 2x a day on all of my tanks....but then again, I dont run any filtration. :D

Hi again, Why don't you run any filtration? Thanks for the water change info. Look like my fishies get a bath today!!
