Ideal Temp.????

Hi all, Just a quick question . I am running a 65G tank at 82 F right now. I am putting 2 ,3 inch blue diamond discus in it with some other fish. The tank is planted. The guy at BIG ALS said to run it at 86 and no less. Any thoughts or opinions? Thanks!!

Yes, bump the temperature up a bit for the discus...they like it warmer when they are younger.

Is 84 good? I just want to be sure as i don't want to throw the balance of the tank off between my other fish and plant's. How long do you recommend this temp.?Thanks for the help !!

I believe the normal temperature for discus is 86*. Check the cichlids forum. I'm sure you'll find posts there confirming this.

84 is fine. They can and will thrive in a temp range from 82 to 92.

Ok. Thats what I figured. I just want to be sure. I would hate like hell to lose the discus. I guess I am just being over cautious. Thanks for the advice.

ive heaard they also like very acidic water, 5.5 - 6.5, BUT CHECK THIS OUT FIRST!!!!!

Yea, your right. My water tests at about 7. I used a test strip though. I think I will just leave my temp. at 84 I don't want to hurt the other fish too. Any idea's?
