ideas for a 75

what are some aggressive fish ideas for a 75 gallon with a 6 inch oscar,4 inch pictus cat and 8 inch pleco.I did have my reddevil in the tank but she was way to aggressive for the mates.I thought about getting some convicts.but im still trying to decide.Can u guys help me out.

Nothing. 75g is minumum for an oscar and nothing else, and youv'e got not only an oscar but two other fish in a 75g, so your pretty much overstocked as it is.

55 is the minimum an oscar can survive in but they really should be kept in nothing smaller than a 75. They make a big mess when they eat and they have a lot of waste which is a big load on the bio filter.

ditch the pleco first and foremost if you are dead set on adding more fish - plecos produce far more waste than they are worth - especially true the for standard plecs once they get a decent size.
you're probably going to have a hard time adding another fish to that tank with an oscar who is already 6 inches - he/she has established that tank as her own, and will defend it. so that leaves passive fish out, and any fish more aggressive than an oscar is not a good choice either. really with a 75 you dont have anywhere else to go. the pictus cat is not a good choice as a tankmate either really.

what filtration is on the tank right now? what is the water change schedule? 2 oscars are fine in a 75 if there is enough filtration and you do enough water changes. a 75 isnt enough for one if you dont have enough filtration or do enough water changes. tank stocking is tricky and tank size is only one aspect of many things that need to be considered when determining what all you can add. my 75 has a fluval 405, 2 whisper 60s, and gets 75% weekly water changes. it will be enough for when he is full grown at 18-20" if he gets that big. remember that whatever a filter claims it can handle "up to" is really about double what it can actually handle, and thats for fish that arent even as dirty as big cichlids. 2 oscars, an oscar and a small school of spotted silver dollars, or what you have now would all be fine combinations if you do it right. i agree that the common pleco should go unless you happen to like it a lot. they produce a lot of waste and dont even take care of the algae for you after a certain size. for tanks with big cichlids the best algae control is your hand with an algae pad in it. what other tanks do you have? if you want another oscar and cant find one big enough you may be able to grow one out in another tank until it catches up with the other one, but it would be much better to get one that is already at least 6", slightly bigger would be better. entirely rearranging the tank will help with any problems with adding new fish. big cihlids love PVC pipe T-connectors, so adding one or two of those and removing other decor would help throw off the original oscar's territory. the point is if you are running one filter that goes "up to" 75 gallons and do a 25% water change once a month, its not enough for the one you have in there now. but if you are willing to greatly overfilter and do big frequent water changes it wouldnt be an issue for you to add to that tank.
