Ideas for Fish Store

Oo you know what I was thinking as a possibility.... show quality bettas.... a break from the crappy reject ones you see in most stores.... You can get lovely ones online. I wonder if they would sell or if people would settle for ugly cheap ones instead?

Ah, I hear a call for TheMightyQueenPixie! She'll find this thread. If it has "betta" in it, she'll find it :)

She breeds awesome bettas, Liz, and might know where you can get them wholesale. Here's a thread she has going on breeding them:

Pictorial Betta Spawing Log

Pretty fascinating stuff!

Although it's fine to want to keep showy and oddball fish, I think it's wise to also cater for the more common tetras and barbs. Why give the business to someone else?

You might want to suggest a wide variety of tetras, such as neon, black neon, cardinal, serpae, lemon, black, diamond, rummy nose, harlequin rasbora, emperor, and phantom.

Also, several kinds of plecos like bristlenose and gold nugget along with the commons.

Loaches like clown, yo-yo, and kuhli.

Also, equipment...have a variety of quality products, filter: like filstar, eheim, fluval, emperor, penguin. heaters: tronic, ebo jager and via aqua.

I'd also make sure the tank area is well lit (don't mean the tanks themselves). I go to this Petland and the have all the fish tanks in a black room with blacklights all over. Makes it kinda creepy...

This makes me want to open my own shop :)

Made me wanna open my own shop too -- for about 5 mins. Then I had a flashback to the early 90s when my husband and I opened one of the first Internet Service Providers in MI. We had that business for 3 years. ARGH! Never again!

I'll sick with marketing and selling my artwork, thank you :)

Now, if I could get a job as a shop consultant, that would rock :)
