Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on what fish i should place in a 29 gallon tank...I have some experiance with fish..so i was looking for something more along the lines of hmm whats the word  ! I was thinking about maybe pacu's or something amazonish, if thats a word. Before you all start jumping on me, know that in a few months they will be moved to a 125g tank. I have also had experience with them before. Maybe a knifefish, though i seem to not have much luck with them...something elegant. I understand about the enviroment of fish, so they would be keept in proper care..thanks :dance2:

As for something Amazonish and large and "pacuish", you could try silver dollars. There are many different types, the most ones common being Metynnis hypsauchen and Metynnis argenteus . Argenteus has spots and is a shorter, more pacu-like fish. It grows about 6-8" in size.

Hypsauchen has no spots, is a much taller type, and grows around 8-10" inches.

Other than spots and general shape, the hypsauchen is a shy fish that will hide if there is a lot of activity going on.

Argenteus is a lot more outgoing and won't hide as much.

Both types of fish startle easily and need lots of dense vegetation to feel safe. Although they will pretty much eat anything, they are herbivores first, so you may opt to use plastic plants instead of real ones.

They are schooling fish as well and do best in groups of six or more. Very peaceful and can have smaller tetras as tankmates if you put them in when the dollars are very small.

My six dollars have rummy nose tetras, rasboras, and a dwarf neon blue gourami as tankmates.
