OK so its general chit chat but we can still do fish stuff.

basically, I will post a pic in this thread, and the first person to ID it, confirmed by me as correct, gets to post another pic, and the first person to ID it, confirmed by that person gets to post another pic, and so on and so on. and no claiming victory and posting a new pic until the previous poster confirms your genius.

so its a game with a brain, and a little bit of fish fun too.

I'll start with an easy one, and one of my absolute favourite species, but I want the latin name, including geographical variant :

what am i.jpg

hard to tell due to the thumbnail size, but I would say that is an electric blue hap, otherwise known as sciaenochromis fryeri from Lake Malawi.

yes the pic is not a great one - I will try and increase it...in the meantime...you're wrong :D but thanks for playing and your effort will no doubt help some clever clogs get it right :D :D

I was however just thinking that the ickle picture looked like fryeri - I bet you'll get it now though :D

what am I 2.jpg

we should of course penalise idjits like me who post crummy/fuzzy/teeny pics :D bear it in mind folks :)

Pseudotropheus socolofi aka Powder Blue? Also Mbuna. But- the tail does not look like p. socolofi...

sorry nope :D close though.

I'm away to bed now so any further guesses will be adjudicated on in a few hours unfortunately - the hint is in the request for the geographical variant :)

Metriaclima callainos?

hope...nuriel was closer...correct genus (and that's enough hints!)

Labidochromis freibergi - Mbuna
