this is a two fold question:

#1 does anyone know where i an get CO2 tanks/fills/swaps, etc. in Minneapolis, MN?

if its the all in one system its over priced. try local welding shops. bust out the yellowpages and start looking.

I was afraid of that

the only problem for me with rounding up a bunch of different parts is that i work 2 jobs and it's hard to fit in a bunch of errands when this would arrive at my door with everything i need

how over priced is it?
I'm willing to pay a little extra for convenience but if it's a huge difference. . .

when i started typing the new link wasnt there. you can get the whole set up from rex site. i have heard nothing but good things about his stuff plus its higher quality then most everything you can get out there.

I believe the only thing you can't get from Rex is the CO2 tank. Probably wouldn't want to buy it other than local anyway (I would think shipping might be high).

Also you would need a ph monitor or controller (the latter you would need for a fully automated system, along with a solenoid).

Agreed. I have never had a fully automated setup, but my next tank will be.

To be honest, though, I rarely check my pH on my current tank. Although, it is at the moment not a very high light tank, so I am content to leave the CO2 at a lower level. Check the bubble rate, check the fish, check the plants, carry on. For a high light, high CO2 tank, fully automated is probably the Cadillac. But a lot of people enjoy their Mazdas.

I have that regulator... it is an AZOO and has been working well for me for 8 months now.

As far as that kit goes, the bubble counter is rather leaky, and the tubing is just silicone tubing... you would be better off finding CO2 resistant tubing.

I would suggest waiting (if you can) for a little while... I got the whole kit (that I actually parted out and only used parts of) for less than the regulator alone costs. Doc Fosters usually has a sale in August sometime... just be sure you're on their mailing list.

As far as tanks, I am in WI and just go to a local welding supply store. They were, however, no help with regulators and other stuff. It would be worth checking with the Minn aquarium society... I am sure someone over there knows of a good place to go. www.minnfish.com/forum/
