I'm proud to annouce the birth last night of 46 F1 mpimbwe frontosas. Both wild-caught mothers, each of whom were stripped at 3 weeks, are doing fine. Proud papa, a monster 12" wild caught male with huge hump, is glowing. Both females came from African Divers in Virginia. The male came from a breeder in New Jersey. Ironically, each mother produced exactly 23 fry. Pics to follow.....:D

You are implying you stripped them a day or two before they were due.

I remove my females at that time to a fry tank and have her deliver there at her comfort.

There are legitimate strippings, mothergetting too weak or not spitting the fries for a week afterheir time. I now have an electric yellow mom who has released three fries and is hanging on to the rest. She is 6 days overdue. :(

thanks all..................
Ive bred many fish over the past 8 years but this was the most fun, by far!!!!!

My main reasons to strip are:
1 - preserve as many fry as possible. Just make sure you dont strip too early, otherwise you will need to put the fry in a tumbler.
2 - get the holding female eating, feeling strong and back with the community as soon as possible.
