My eel is eating (five halves of silversides in the past three days) and the conditions of my tank are improving. My eel ate like crazy tonight, coming all the way out of the cave and demanding more. YIPPEE!

I bought roughly 10 lbs of live rock to add to my system and I currently have 26 snails and 15 hermit crabs as well as an Emerald Crab (I know, I'm willing to take my chances, if anything my eel gets an expensive meal).

My readings this afternoon were:

Temp: 77.4
PH: 8.3
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0 - .25 (somewhere in between)
Ammonia: 0 - .25 (somewhere in between)

Although the ammonia color really didn't quite match anything on my chart, is it possible to be below 0? It was a yellowish green which is either below 0 or my estimate was somewhere between 0 and .25. Either way, its improving.

I added some pictures of my tank and my eel. The tank is a bit boring at this point but I will be adding to it (soft corals, fish?) as things continue to improve. I'm planning on getting a Scorpion Fish. Those are the coolest fish I've seen. I'm leaning towards a predator tank.

Has anyone had any luck with an eel and a triggerfish? I'd love to get a triggerfish but it is cautioned in the compatibility chart.

Well, I'll keep ya'll updated.

hehe looks cool he wants food!

Nice pictures. That is one scary and hungry eel.

How big is your tank? Also will more than one aggresive fish in one tank, like a lion and an eel, be bad? Will the fish kill each other? Also germanman you have a lion and an eel in a 20 gallon? Or am I just dumb?

I thought eels and frogfish need much larger tanks?

it depends on the size of the animal as of now and the adult size as well as filtration etc.

Nice pictures! I'm so glad he's back to eating- must be a huge load off of your shoulders. :)
