In praise of the common Harlequin rasbora

The espeis are slightly smaller and more copper colored, less round in body shape and more streamlined. They are very much a top to mid dweller, mine staying more towards the top (i do have a few hundred in a species tank, so that may alter slightly in a community setting). They eat very excitedly and are a ton of fun to keep. I am tryinig to figure out where to keep them in one of my displays long term because I like them so much.

If I ever set up a bigger tank, I'm thinking a pair of marble angels, a school of praecox rainbows, and a school of harlequins or maybe the espeis. And probably a botia/y group for the bottom.

I adore cardinals, but they are borderline angel food and are more sensitive than the rasboras.

When I had an even bigger tank, I had congo tetras with praecox rainbows and bleeding hearts, and a lone marble angel reject..also a lovely combo.

Oh, and thanks msjinkzd...I got to reminiscing and forgot my manners.

Question: Do harlies tend to congregate more in the middle than espeis, or are they also top/middle?

I have 6 in a 75 gal with some lemon and red serpae tetras, and they are really cool. They hang mostly in the mid and upper level, and mostly together or with the serpaes.

I have 5 of them and they are awesome little fish! They are always first to get to the food. It's like the food is already in their belly while still taking the food out.

I was at the Petco buying a digital thermometer and stopped to see the harlequins. There were a whole bunch of live plants in the tank, and wow! What a difference. The harlies were much more colorful and relaxed than I've ever seen them. They were even schooling very nicely despite the lack of room. (The black neon tetras in the same tank are darned shiny themselves, so the effect was quite nice.)

I have 6 and I like them alot stopped at Petco yesterday and they had them for $1.49 so I figured what the heck I'll get 4 more. She accidentally gave me 5 but I said fine. Then the girl at the counter only charged me for 1! Nice lil score 5 harlies for $1.70!
