Interesting..

Glad you seem to have taken it the right way, a bit hard to judge your emotions on a light blue winky face.

Have you guys seen the article aboutthy trying to bring back the Tasmanian tigers? Yeah, lets bring these things back to live in cages for their lives :screwy:
I'm done.

it was a good one. lol.

no, didnt see that article. amazing, really, and not in a good way.

did you read any of CCM's posts up there?

the world evolves. things go extinct. it is not our place to try to preserve the past, as it is that way for a reason. think of the effects a "new" old species would bring upon the ecosystem it was introduced to. would be no different than dumping a fish back into local waters.

my beef is the same as CCM's.. you don't see huge articles about "healthy organs successfully cloned and used to save human lives", you see "look what we can do! aren't we cool?! oh, by the way, here's the potential.. we'll get to that after we clone 40 billion other species of life though"

well, humans did cause mammoths, tasmanian tigers and others of the like to go extinct. but as cool as they would be to see in the flesh, i suppose after so long they dont belong in this world anymore.

back on the subject, there are worse, even more pointless experiments done on rodents. for instance, the incredible, disgusting ear that doesnt even work. i wish it was photoshoped...

prove it.

actually, mammoth had their shot, it wasn't just humans to kill them off. there are entire herds of mammoth that died from exposure in canada, Alaska, and Russia, and they were perfectly preserved. in the ice. plus when man hunted them it was done for survival. I have no beef with the mammoth being used for food shelter and clothing. Granted the Dodo was killed off just for sport, but most creatures that leave this world were not meant to be here and were a stepping stone for another species. do I think it would be cool to see a living dinosaur? heck yes, but they would not be able to survive long in our environment or if they could they would kill off other species, it's an endless cycle. Take an ecology, biology, and history for a detailed understanding.

My point can be easily made based off what happens now like when people release african clawed frogs into the wild in the US. How many ecosystems have been destroyed by them?

Recreating a dead animal and releasing it is an ecological disaster, putting it in a cage to die years later is morally wrong.

I understand the views of people thinking it's cool, and it is, but it doesn't make it right

CCM,you say putting something in a cage to die years later is morally wrong yet we ALL keep fish in cages that, no matter how good the care is, will eventually die. I agree that extinct animals should not be re-animated just for coolness sake, no doubt, but could this be just another step in hman evolution?

I saw that last night, nasty... And sad.

I tried putting a fish in a cage once....all the water kept on draining out though....hmmmm....twas wierd.....

Youve taken what ccm said out of context, you cant have or make a legit argument while stating partialities because your argument concerning it is nil if put into the context of the statement that was made.

I have never seen nor heard of a fish that was extinct from the earth being brought back to live its life in a "cage".

Evolution is defined as " a process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse to a higher, more complex, or better state " (mw). By taking animals, or any other form of life, that has already had its time on earth and already evolved, and putting them into the context of having something to do with future evolution is taking a step backwards. Of which I do believe would be called regression, not progression.
