Tonight I was just browsing the forum, and in one of the posts (I don't know which one and I did a search and can't find it), someone mentioned a "common symptom" of IP was white stool.
I was trying to take pics of my fish, when I noticed my Dalmation (but pretty much all black) molly, pooping... White. I remember seeing this before, and never thought anything of it... but after reading that tonight, now I am worried about him and the other fish. Could someone tell me if this looks like IP?

I am sooooooooooo sorry they are soooooooo blurry... I tried to get good ones! (I took like 114 pics and MAYBE 2 are OK- but still blurry) :(

If it is IP, what could I use to treat it, and would I apply it to the whole 29 gallon tank? I don't have anywhere else to put the molly. :(

My fish is doing that aswell. And she seems to not swim actively and healthy.

would preventative IP medicene HURT the fish? Like does it do anything that would stress them? I heard that it may be hard to get them to eat it... any suggestions?

You don't want to do "preventive" care, as many medications can unnecessarily stress your fish. NO SALT!! :D

Levimasole and Prazi Pro are good treatments; not selling, just an informative link--it also comes in fizzy tablets I found at PetSmart. Observe, maybe isolate if it's just the one--I lost 2 dwarf gourami, and the third is showing swelling (another indicator) 2 months later.

Good luck!!!

the problem with the use of prazi as an additive to the water is that it is not absorbed at all well by the fish. Very little of it gets to the gut where the potential parasite resides.

a better approach would be the use of medicated foods or Levamisole hydrochloride.

With that being said--if your fish has never shown health problems, eats well, is active, and maintains color well (or if you hae not seen any changes in the fish)--don't worry about it. we all get paranoid from time to time. part of caring about the fish we keep.

Ok... so I decided to just wait and see how things went & if I noticed white poo again I'd try the medicine. He was still eatin' like normal-the little pig- and his color and activity were normal as well. It was just that white poop...
Well, FINALLY I've seen him-and others- poo again (a couple of times) and they all seem to be normal, so I think I may have just been freakin' out (since I had *just* read that article). Anyway, thank you all soooooooooo much for all of your help & now if I ever have reason to believe they REALLY DO have IP I know exactly what to do. Thank you all soooo much!

BTW- when I saw it tonight, I was takin' pics & almost shot one of the "normal poo" but then thought that you all have seen more than your share of fish poo w/o seeing my fish's poo too! ;)

I think you should get a 10 gallon for a hospital tank they are really cheap, if not just get a cheap tupper ware container and when you have a sick fish, you just fill the container with water, put in the fish and then the recommended dosage of medicine in it, then after it's been treated put it back in the tank, and repeat the next day how many times you need to. Of course dump the water from the container after each treatment and fill it back up with tank water so you don't shock your fish with temperature.
