Is a Platy a good fish?

I was wondering if a platy is a good hardy fish. I have seen some platys with some cool colors. I even saw a purple one that I liked! If someone would tell me what kinds there are and if they are good and at most pet stores. I have a 29 gallon tank that I would like to put them in. I have 1 blue gourami, 2 female mollies, 2 mickey mouse platys. Thanks for your help!

Platies are hardy, peaceful, colour, and nice fish. But if you get a male and female; they may give you some extra fish, so only buy two, and be prepared for fry.

Didn't you say you already have platies? There is one species sold usually. Hundreds of color variations. One of the hardiest fish. I'd settle with two or three, if three, one male, two females. They will have lots of babies.

I love platies. I especially love the really blood red ones. An oldie and a favourite. I got a spare 33g sitting around, so if I ever get around to setting up my livebearer tank, platies would be a welcomed addition. If you want to get more, make sure the females outnumber the males by 2:1, at least. Or 3:1 if possible.

i bought a platy but my female swordtail tried to kill it so i had to give it to a friend.
