is my cycle done?

I started the fishy cycle on february 7, and have been testing my water daily or every other day ever since, and doing water changes to keep the toxins down. This morning these were my test results:

ammonia-0
nitrites-0
nitrates-0

last night I had nitrites in the area of 0.25ppm, and I was tihnking that if the cycle finished overnight maybe it hasn't had time to make enough nitrates to show up on my test yet. I'll check it again tonight and see what it says then

When ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates ~10ppm, THEN it's finished.

I figured it might be early to see the nitrates yet so I'll keep an eye on my numbers. :thud:

nitrites climbed back up just a touch during the day. the color is kind of between 0 and 0.25ppm, so I'll probably do a change tomorrow and see what happens

Yeah, I'd probably wait and keep testing for a bit longer. Say a week or two and see where you are at. Keep in mind that when you add more fish you shouldn't over do it all at once. Just tested my tank that's been set up for about 2 years and I'm showing ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrate ~5 ppm, but my bio load is a bit low right now and I also have some live plants in there.

The only reading you should see is nitrates.
