Check out old orchard aquarium in skokie, they are expensive but have very good livestock (very few overstocked tanks and there corals are under 8+ tube T5's), you can get some stuff there.

Living Sea Aquarium in Park Ridge is cheaper and bigger but the fish dont seem as healthy, there both good though, check both of them out. Look at fish and corals etc and write the ones you like down, then come back here and tell us and we can decide what tank and light etc. Get a feel for the price of things as well.

it might be a while before i can, im just thinking about it, my brother has a 75 gallon sw and its amazing but he bought it from a friend that was moving for 200 bucks so he doesnt really knw prices.

I am a beginner too, but theres no copyright on what i do with my tank so you can feel free to follow everything i do step by step.

oh and nate, keep the 29 gallon that you were going to sell to me, use it to start your way into the saltwater hobby, take your time, im in my 5th month of research and i am still learning stuff even before i bought the tank so it being a while before you can start the tank, can be good.

Who knows maybe one day we can do frag swaps or trade our unwanted materials with each other.

alright

Dude all you need is a tank, filter, lights (only a factor of what type if keeping corals) and a couple Powerheads but the rest of the stuff you can get from your bro. LR, LS heck why not frag some corals from him and throw them into your tank. All you would really need is water and salt. Sounds like a breeze to set up. Maintaing isnt that hard if you are ontop of things, But then again it is a learning process. Good Luck.

he live like a hour and half away

If he lives an hour away just get everything in 1-2 trips. You dont have to constantly go back and forth.
