I currently use the Python hose system that connects to my bathroom faucet, which works well but I hate dragging that hose all over the house every week. Is there a better/more efficient method?
Not much easier than a python. You could get a pump and 50 feet of hose then run the hose outside. How else are you going to get water out, without a hose of some sort? Are you Yoda by chance? Then I would say, just "will" it out....LOL!
Precisely what I did and while I was at it I made everything automatic. The aquarium has a constant inflow of new water and a pump to remove excess automatically. Definitely worth while for a 410 gallon aquarium!

A) water bill?!
b) water quality/conditioning? how are you supposed to know if a contaminant gets introduced to the water table in which you get your tap water?
that's a great idea, but i don't like the idea of constant water flow at all times.

I store 25 gallons of water (aged to get the chlorine out) in gallon plastic jugs in a spare bedroom. I use "Arizona" ic tea jugs which are heavy duty plastic with a secure screw on top. When I do a WC I warm the water in a bathtub filled with hot water.
Then I use a gravel vac and clean out the gunk into a 5 gal bucket.
After watering the houseplants, i dump the rest in a flower bed.
Works for me.
