hey i was wondering if there was any way i could keep 2 male bettas together in the same tank. they are such a pretty fish, and i would love to have two in my 4 footer after cycling. i was thinking of buying 2, and putting em in a little 10 gal with a mesh divider, until they get used to each other and dont flare anymore, then submerge the 10 gal into the 4 footer... and they will float out the top and go of into the big tank and i can then take the 10 gal out. do you think it would work??????

maybe having alot of covering will help...tall plants

Definitely no. They are way too aggressive towards eachother. There are other fish out there that have beautiful colors and markings you could add instead. Have you thought of a nice variety of different colored schooling fish?

Eventually, two male betta splendens with no means of seperation will kill each other. There is some other species of bettas that will tolerate more than one male per tank. You could also keep a group of atleast 3 female bettas in the same tank. They can be just as good looking as the males and sometimes have almost as much, sometimes more (as they mature) finnage then the males.

just keep them in the 10g with the divider. you can grow some java moss on it, or put a lot of plants in so it is more hidden. you can also find clear plastic dividers at many pet and fish stores.

no.

BTW I got a good chuckle out of your signature type thing, "I'm not alcoholic I'm Australian". Truer words have never been said.

I saw it done in a 10 gal. And they were also brothers.. so yes it can be done. But if u do plan on it make sure u watch them very close and if they fight remove 1 of them, Good luck.
