Delawhere?
My danios seem to like feeding time, more to play than to eat. There must be some sort of toy for them play with!

I think you're reading WAY to much into this.

Mine "play" in the return water line.

They seem to love to see how many times they can hit a big flake without actually eating it!

Maybe the "big" flake is to big for them to eat.

Yes, but they mutilate it! They get plenty of small ones to eat, but they love playing with the big ones!

Think cat with a mouse.

The LFS used to (because they're closed now :( ) have an air-filled glass bobby thingy with a little glass seahorse dangling from it in their baby angel tank... they used to peck at it and chase it around as it moved and stuff... dunno if it was originally intended to be a fish toy or not though :P

Ping Pong ball.

my cherry barbs like to grab the big flakes and run away, the others usually chase and it looks like they are having fun... there is other food, it's more about forced sharing.

lately, in terms of playing at meal time, I've been taking a pinch of frozen blood worms in my tweezers and holding it above the surface, starting at the surface and lifting it until it's about a quarter inch above, trying to train them to jump for it. it seems to confuse them, but they are starting to try. they certainly splash a lot of water around. it's fun to see their fins emerge.
