Hello!

I'm wondering what my balloon molly has... Sorry for the bad pictures, guys! She wouldn't stay still :(

The white patch on the fish in the background of the first pic is natural.
They are all in a 10 gallon hospital tank with 2 internal filters
The tank is salted with aquarium salt at 1 teaspoon per gallon and temp at 78F

But I'm not sure if this is ick or fungus because the white round spots are also "raised" (?) and there's a white patch on her mouth as well

Should I use some kind of meds? Is there any meds for both fungus and parasites at the same time?

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Dave!

I'm very familiar with your article, but thanks for the link anyways!
These mollies have a permanent home in a hospital tank, because they seem to be carriers of tuberculosis. I know I'm very careful when handling this tank. They've been there for months and every 3 to 4 months one molly die from the disease. You might think I'm crazy, but I can't kill them, period. And honestly, they seem to live their lives normally up to the moment when the disease becomes more serious. I always make sure to keep good water params and feed them well.

Unfortunately this molly now has this problem as well. I've recently treated the tank with Maracyn because one of them was having swim bladder problems. The med really helped, but I guess it also might've weakened their immune systems. God knows...

Anyway, I'll raise the salt and will wait for some input about the fungus

Thanks

Chris

all i see are ich spots in the picture, but sometimes the ich will accumulate on the mouth or gills, but I'm thinkin that it also has mouthrot or finrot, this is a bacterial infection (as apposed to ICH which is a diatom) get an antibacterial medication (penicillin based meds work well)

ps. for close up shots, use the macro setting on your camera (the little flower icon) this tells the camera to focus only on the close objects

Believe me, I did use the macro setting, I'm not sure if I'm the dumb here or my camera!

Do you happen to know any brand name that uses the kind of meds you're suggesting?
