They actually did though. The name comes from "back in the day" when hog farmers used to use this fish to feed their hogs. The hogs would often choke on the spines, bony scales and bones of this fish. But I guess that's what you get for feeding any whole fish to a hog, their bones and scales are bound to get stuck in the throat sooner or later, yikes! X_x

what are you feeding it? what is the max size?

i think max they get about 5 or 6 in, but ive had mine and hes about 2 in and fat as can be, pur freshwater for about 6 months now and hes doing real good, but i can beat you on smallness

about 1/4"

i feed mine bloodworms and brineshrimp, he was probably in my tank for a month or 2 before i ever even saw him eat, and he would always stay buried but now hes always out and about

Aww, it's so cute. Does yours change colors as well? I'm noticing that mine can adapt a very broad range of colors/patterns depending on what it's laying on. Nothing colorful like what a cuttlefish or chameleon can accomplish, but still a pretty good range.

im going to probly start adding salt to the 10 that i keep mine in. ive had him about a week or so. i havnt seen him eat. hes about 2 inches. what should i do for food ive tried sinking pelets. he hasnt eaten yet. and also. what are good tankmates for him. fig 8 puffs?
