I recently got back into the freshwater aquarium world by getting an old ten gallon tank that my parents used to own up and running. I've been away from freshwater aquaria for quite awhile and now that I am fusty on a few points. I generaly cycle my marine tanks with live rock and I prefer not to use fish in cycling my tank for initial stocking so I was wondering where to get a source of amonia to start the nitrogen cycle. Any thughts.
And by the way, HELLO EVERYONE!!!!:dance2:

I'm new too, but from what I have read in numerous articles/posts, get ammonia from your local grocery store. Just make sure it is pure ammonia. Ya may want to wait for an opinion from someone that's been around for awhile though.

i've used the ammonia a few times..worked well..

Extremely important that the ammonia you use has NO additives of any type.

Okay, I put a little fishfood in a couple of days ago behind the filter media (which is just poly-fil right now). That should take care of starting an initial amonia spike untill I have the opportunity to go to the store and get some amonia to dose. I already read that cycling article before I posted this thread. I wasn't able to find any references to where to btain amonia so that's why I asked. Thanks for the help everyone. :)

Thx Blueiz.
That's just what I needed!
Cheers!
