I have a Ivory apple snail but I cant get any pics up. I want to know what a Healthy Ivory Apple Snail looks like and what an Unhealthy snail looks like.

Thanks I just want everything to be right for my little Sunjay!
 
Healthy I would say is a non pitted shell without any erosions of the shell....lots of growth...

unhealthy....the oppisite to that ^^

Edit: I couldnt find what I was looking for but I think my snails shell is chipping away but there is like a new shell below it. Is that a normal process?

The shell should never chip away. You may be dealing with erosion. Can you post a photo?
 
I dont own a camera. But its like a new shell is growing or something. And every day the chipping shell is farther back onn its shell about 2 days ago it was just at the hole where the nail comes out of and now its directly on top.
 
What your seeing is new shell growth. Nothing you can do with fix the poor shell that grew in the past. To prevent future shell deterioration be sure to get your snail plenty of calcium and keep your pH above 7.4. I have a picture of a white brig on my website: www.mrsnailz.com. a simple way to do it would be to add a bit of cuttlebone to the water, which are actually ment for birds. you can find them in the bird supplies section of the pet store. you can grind the particles into the water, or just leave the whole thing in there for the snail to munch on.
 
Would that harm the fish? Sorry for being such a nesance(spl) but I just been having bad luck with my last pet(parrot) and I dont want my little boy to die. Also how can I tell if I have a female snail or not.

Edit: My mom had an extra cuttleboard so Im good. Can I just drop the whole thing in there or what? Also should I feed him anything else during this process of rehabilitation?

Edit#2: I was reading the back of the cuttleboard box and it says it has Iron in it. Is that safe for the fish and the snail?
