Hey everyone, about 3 days ago I went to transfer my oscars from my 90g to a 120g and my 55g community to the 90g. In my community is a synodontist eupterus, angelfish, danios, guorami, and of my course my female jack dempsey (about 4"). I had them in two 5 gallon buckets for about 2 hours, with the catfish and jack dempsey in one bucket and the other community fish in the other. Now, all the fish are perfectly fine after the move, even the fragile angelfish. Nevertheless, my female jack dempsey managed to have her fins rot and her scales deteriote in that short amount of time. I have no idea how this could have happened. While they were in the bucket, she actually jumped out and flopped on the floor, but I immediately put her back in. Now, my catfish isn't aggressive and I doubt it could have done that much damage in such a short time and I didnt see them fighting. What could have caused this? I know her fins will come back, but will her scales regenerate and grow back? Shes acting normal, active, and eating well. Any input would be appreciated .

Oh and Ignore the V cut in the center of her back fin, she's had that since she was little.

It is most likely damage done when she jumped out, It should grow back at the same pace as the fins. If she seems healthy otherwise then she should be okay. Just eye her to make sure there is no increase in the damage. If you feel like it there are some additives to help stimulate scale/fin growth
