Good things there's not a limit on the number of questions you can ask

I own an Eheim-Jagar heater, a 150 watt which is currently in a 29 gallon. As far as I know (and according to the manuel), you're suppose to push up the button (I use a screw driver to pry it up), set the dial, and push the button back in. I did that and the little arrow is on 75 degrees. I pushed the tab back in as far as I could. The water was 72 degrees when I turned the heater on, and it's gone up to 82 degrees and the heater still hasn't turned off (the little light is on). I was wondering whether temperature normalized or whether there might be something wrong with it. I plan on letting it run overnight and hoping maybe the temperature will normalize. Am I doing anything wrong or is there anything I should check?

I woke up this morning and the water temperature was 90 degrees  I'm not too sure if there's something wrong with the heater or I'm just setting it wrong.

I don’t have a new Eheim-Jager, just the several of the previous Ebo-Jager. Obviously I don’t have the instructions you’re reading in front of me. But my experience with heaters (even the cheapo heaters that hang on tanks) is that you do not take off the button for setting temperatures unless you want to RECALIBRATE it.

Does the dial on the top have temperature settings? It should have been calibrated at the factory. Even still, that doesn’t mean the temperature is exact but close enough. For example, I have two 100 watt heaters on my 50 gallon. To keep the tank temperature at 77F and to have both heaters running equally, one of them is set at 24-1/2 and the other at 23-1/4 (Celcius).

Take the button off and turn it opposite of what you did at first. I guess you will have to fiddle to get it what you want. Again, I do not have this particular heater, so I can’t be of much more help. However, it seems a complicated way of re-setting temperatures. I’m glad there were still a couple places in the city still selling the older Ebo’s.

DOH! DOH! DOH! and DOH! and a DOH! For a good measure. You're completly right. You don't need to pull out the tab unless you want to re-calibrate the temperatures. Obviously I screwed that up.

Any tips on re-calibrating a thermometer? :idea2:

If its new just take it back to the shop and plead that its broken lol

You can calibrate it. Lift up the blue button , Turn the dial face to the temperature of the water, push the blue button down, turn the dial to the temperature to the desired temperature and recheck. I did mine in a 5 Gal pail.
