Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and have found it useful for my little SW tank in my living room (just a 30 with 4 fish, 3 inverts, and the polethera of snails and hermits).

Anyway, when I moved to Ohio, my girlfriend who moved in with me brought 2 beautiful aquascaped FW tanks that she said were modeled in "Japanese Zen" style by some famous tank artist whos name escapes me. Needless to say, she and I are not on speaking terms anymore but I have a huge kitchen that looks like it needs a 50 gal or so against the wall and I think I'd like to do a Zen style FW there. Does anyone know (and I'm sure someone must) where there's a site devoted to this? Also, any book suggestions would help.

I haven't had a FW since I was 16, and I didn't have live plants in that one so any comments/concerns/pointers anyone has are welcomed. I would like to know if a brackish aquascape is possible (puffers are very tempting...)

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing your girlfriend's tanks are modeled after those created by Takashi Amano. Check out the Aquatic Gardner's Association website - they have a yearly aquascaping contest, and you can see Amano's comments on the tanks he judges. He's also written at least four books related to aquascaping: Nature Aquarium World, which is three books all together (Nature Aquarium World I, II and III) I believe, and one called Aquarium Plant Paradise - I have this one, it's got some pretty unique tanks in it. Google Takashi Amano, you'll see some amazing stuff :)

Blinky, totally off topic here

But if you're interested in getting some of the Nature Aquarium World books, PM me, since you're in TO anyways :)
