my java fern is turning brown. anyone have any idea why?

Is it turning brown because of brown algae covering it or is the leaf actually dying?

i dont have a camera or i would post a pic.

leaf is actually dying.

i have some swords in the tank and they are fine.

the only thing i put in the water is some iron. we have well water so no chlorine.

Do you have high light in your tank? Java fern responds to high light by browning leaves.

I didnt know this.. whats the cure?

In my tank, I stuffed it under the breeder net to subdue the lighting a bit.
I also stuck most of my crop into a smaller ten gallon and it's been reproducing like...well, like javas do.
You CAN leave it and usually the next crop of leaves will be more used to the lighting. Is it turning brown in lines or sections, or is the whole leaf browning over? If it's lines or sections, it could be attempting to reproduce.. I've had that happen too.

Oh really? So my lace leaf will die in my 3.3wpg tank?
