I have a shipment in the mail for a 6x6 thing of java moss. I was just wondering how easy is it to care for this stuff? Will I need c02 and good lighting if it will be the only live plant in the tank?

It will be in a 20 gal aquarium at first, then I am hoping to transfer it over to my 125 gal.

Java moss is undemanding low lighting plants. Just tie them upon the wood or leave them where you want them and they'll attach to the decors in no time.

awesome:) From what I have read it seems to be a slow grower, is that correct?

I would like to eventually have a decent amount if it grows fast enough:)

super easy. holy cow. i started with a wad about the size of a golf ball several months ago and now its the size of a softball (possibly larger). i dose a little excel and a little fluorish. i have no high tech lights and no co2 and the stuff does very well. ive seen the little spore pods and it has the pale green tips of new growth all the time

I currently have some snails, 3 mystery snails and some cone ones that the guy threw in with my khuli loaches

do I have to worry about them eating the java moss? I'm guessing that the mysteries would be ok but I'm not sure about those little cone guys which I'm pretty sure I'll have about 1000000 of next month!!

I don't know the technical term for them, I was just going by shape...lol

But just about every pet/fish store I go into has these growing in their tanks

thanks for the help!!

I toss handfuls of java moss nearly every week(at least every other week) ;)

Sounds great:) Should look good on some larger rocks in my tank and driftwood when I finally get some!
