Are you using any special lighting? if so what? and are you using any ferts?

lighting is a white light marine flurecent as i only hve 1 light fixture in the hood so gives a stronger light yeild and use plant growth booster nothing else is used

I'm unfamiliar with "marine fluorescent"... Do you mean actinic bulb? If so, that explains why it died ... Actinics are blue spectrum light whereas I believe for photosynthesis plants need more red spectrum.

when you get some... save some of it for later. take some sphagnum moss and sand... mix it about 1/2+1/2 (make sure the sphag has been soaked well and wrung out a little)... put it in a ziploc bag and cover it with about 1/2 of your moss... close it and tape it to a window that gets decent light.

when the stuff in your tank dies you should have enough in your bag to try again.
