This is the third time I have been offered a job at my LFS. Each time by a seperate person none-the-less. I will talk to someone there about something and during the conversation, they will tell me that I should fill out an application. It usually occurs when I start talking about my tank. It seems that they all look at cumstomers the same way, like that are all unknowledged about fish in general. I will get into my tank, the equipment I have, and start talking about fish and plants and at that point, they kind of just look at me for a second and ask me to get a job there.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Pretty impressive tanks there for a 13 year old...keep it up. I could have been doing a lot of other bad things when I was younger, but the fish kept me safe.

The guy at Petco once said I should apply for a job just because he heard me mention the puffers they had were brackish. He heard the one word and keyed in on me... so, if anyone needs a job at Petco, just say Brackish really loud. ;) I am half kidding, it was a new store and they were certainly looking for more workeers. I am hopeful their application process involves more than the ability to say brackish...

The people at Petco know me and my girlfriend. We go there every wednesday because that's the day they get their fish in and sunday because that's when they order for wednesday. They let us look through the fish they can order and have us suggest what they should get.

4 times I've been in a pet store and have been mistaken for an employee, 2 times at 2 different stores. I am looking for a job at the moment, I could probably get hired since I know a PetCo thats reeeeeally short on people (theres never anyone around). Thing is I don't know if I could handle scooping out dead fishies I saw swiming happy the day before...

The PetCo here is pretty good. The aquatics guy is nuts about it. The problem is almost all of their fish have Ick. I think someone brough a fish in with it and now their whole aquatics section has ick. He keeps treating the tanks but you really gotta watch the fish you get. However I rarely see a dead fish there, they usually recover but I think the water is permantly infested or something.

My LFS started offering me a job when I was 14 years old, but my parents refused to drive me the 5 miles to work everyday. Now, 10 years later, I still get asked every once in while, but it has become more of a running joke then anything else.

Never offerd a job, but I have been called on to give advice before. Just the other day the girl at Wet Pets was asked the sex of a cichlid, and she said "Uh ask that guy, he'll know". While I was flattered, I wasn't sure I could do it, till I saw they were cons. The guy was pretty happy to have my help.

i keep my mouth shut at the fish store, cause once i give someone advice i get so much more people comming up to me asking what they should put in their spongebob aquarium that already has half a dozen drawf frogs, fancy goldfish and a pleco.
