i am running a wet/dry filter on my reef tank and have been told that they're bad news; as they can cause a build-up of nitrates. i have been doing some research and read as long as you keep the pre filters clean, bio balls clean, and keep up with your wc's you will have no problems. and if all else fails you can just slowly remove bio balls( 1/4 of chamber every week or so)and turn it into a sump w/live rock and sand. ANYBODY HAVE ANY OPIONS OR INFORMATIONON ON THE SUBJECT?

do yall think it would help my situation to remove the bio balls from wet/dry and replace them with live rock? and if i do so is it ok to have the water trickle over the lr or should i keep it fully submerged?

Just received some rescue candy cane coral and on a few of the heads it looks like the outer edges were chipped in a few spots. Under good conditions will they normally recover from this and regenerate, or does this more often then not lead to deterioration?

Hello there Josh, I'm just starting up my first tank and have been getting mix opinions about running a wet/dry. Some are saying it's a good idea and some are saying it's a bad idea. I was wondering 1 if you can post a picture of your wet/dry and let me know how it is working out for you? If you like please check out my set up and let me know what you think. I don't want to rip the wet/dry apart again but will if I have to seeing that I don't want to have to do it after it's up and running.
