I just got some plants from my lfs in trade. The tank was labeled Sagittaria platyphylla or giant sag but it seems longer than I remember it being. When I got home, a leaf or 2 is ~24inches. Is it likely the emersed form or really jungle val? I only had giant sag once, it was only ~8-10 inches.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference? No pics, sorry. Either is ok, I''m more curious than anything.

OK I looked closer today & some leaves have a thin edge up to 1/3 with a central thicker "vascular" area with some horizontal wavy lines.2 or 3 vertical strands...val? or sag? Still in quarantine but low light ok? Please look at your jungle vals &/or giant sag & tell me what you see.

This is like the least scientific answer ever, but the Sag's leaves should be strong enough that they stay upright when out of water, whereas Vallisneria leaves should pretty much just flop over.
