I was just curious about what kind of lighting is most sufficient for my 55 gal I had a couple of GE Salt and freshwater which run at about 9325 Kelvin and 675 Lumens at 15 watt, but they seem too bright and seems to enhance the growth of hair algae which the african.cichlids seem to like grazing on but it just looks bad, on the other hand I have a pair of Penn Plaxx aquari Lux 15 watt bulbs which have the same spec's but seem to be much dimmer of a bulb, should I go with more light or less light there are no live plants in the tank that would need the most light?

I'm not great with lighting but when it comes down to it its all about personal preference in situations like this...I went basic on my 55 (no plants, cichlids) and got just a standard light fixture and added in Hagen Power-Glo lighting.....I like it.
