I think the flowerhorns are an amazing fish. I have a new 65 gallon (36" wide by 18" deep by 24" high). Can I raise and breed these guys in that size tank, and if so... how many? Do they mate up pretty well - one to one, or do I need several females per male? What would be good tank mates?

z24frank: it's tempting to get your flowerhorns, but I don't know enough yet... How long will the offer be on the table?

Thanks,
Sharon

you could probably get away with one in a 65 gal, but 2-3, no, for a pair, a 150 gallon would be best, these fish get big
and they arent the EASIEST fish to breed

there not hard to breed if you now how set every thing up, they dont grow really really fast if you have them in a 55 gal tank your best bet would be to get them when there just a few inches so they can get to know each other but there are cases when they dont like each other and wont breed but put a divider in and every once in a while let them hang out for a bit them divide them again its pretty easy got any questions send me a message i will be happy to help but you will need a bigger tank a hundred gal will be cool
