Just experienced my first Earthquake

Me too! Philly area, eastern PA. It was a big un,. 5.8 (googled it) and centered in Virginia. We felt just a little tremor, thought it was a large truck or something. Then one of my moms work friends in DC said they felt it there too! East coast doesn't have earthquakes often, but when it does they tend to be larger, as we are in the center of a tectonic plate, so the energy needed to cause an earthquake is far greater. Here's hopin that was the last of it... no aftershocks please!

That was the weirdest thing I have ever experienced, currently at work and about 40 miles from the epicenter of the quake. Very scary experience.

They bumped it up to 5.9. That was my first too, since we never get earthquakes. Pretty unexpected but cool 200 some odd miles away.

All we felt here was a small tremor. I am very glad I wasn't near the center... *FF1 thanks the gods of luck and house pricing* The chandelier was rocking though...

All is well here. Scared the dickens out me. My first "real" earthquake too. Epicenter just a few miles from the house. Holy Cow! I'm still at work. Daughter is home safe and still outside.
