Australia actually :silly: I find it a little hypocritical that fish lovers would waste the precious resources that keeps their beloved hobby (and the natural habitat) alive. But then again people are under the impression that water will keep coming out of their taps forever.

Sorry Sometime when one is living on the edge of the worlds most abundant sources of fresh water one tends to forget just how important a source of water is.
But this doesnt mean i am wasteful. You can use the the python and turn the water on to start the syphon action and then you can turn it off.
I've never used one, I just use a Marineland Kleen Sweep Air Power Vacuum connected to an air pump to clean the gravel and a tube with a rubber hand pump to empty and fill the tank. It's nice having a bag on the vacuum because sometimes you suck up things you didn't mean to and it allows you to recover it. I once used a python ripoff and I ended up flushing a beautiful guppy down the drain. Poor little guy. RIP

not everyone has it going down the drain. if someone wants to waste it then they waste it. i would rather waste some water during a water change then people washing down their drive way or something.
Comment: I have my Python connected to the faucet in my basement. My tanks are on the main level of my house. This setup allows me to turn the faucet on and maintain a vacuum without the tap running the whole time. The pressure of the water pipes still allows me to pump water up into main level to fill up my tanks afterwards.
For those who require the tap water to stay running to maintain a vacuum, your faucet is placed higher than the water level of your tank. Maybe find a lower faucet or raise the height of the tank. Wasting water is a sin. hehe.
Question: I received a used 50 ft Python when I bought my used 40G Breeder tank from a guy from Craigslist. The section that attaches to the faucet leaks at the joint and I have to wrap a cloth around the joint to prevent water from spraying when I have the faucet on. Is this normal or do I need to replace this section?
