hi,
One of my platies totally vanished 2 days ago,i pulled everythingthing out of tank, but couldn,t find her.so i assumed she had died & had been eaten.
Today i happened to notice movement in the bottom grill of my juwel filter,so pulled media out and there she was,alive.....how on earth did she get in there,as she,s fairly large.
Wondered if this has happened to anyone else with juwel vision,& how could she have gotten in there.Want to solve so dont happen again.

Sorry to hear about your platy, glad you rescued her tho :) only perm. solution for this is to remove the whole filter and casing and replace with an external one.

Wonder if she went in the output...aka: like Nemo did.

i do have external filter also, dont really fancy taking out juwel filter as its fixed to glass. And would need to empty tank to remove it.I wanted both filters running incase any ever fails.
Must be away of solving this, just puzzled as gaps are to small for platies to go through.....or so i thought.

Ah didn,t think of output.Yes that would make sense, hole big enough. Any suggestions as to what i can do about it.?

It is possible to remove the filter and it's quite a quick job (did mine before set up). If you only have the 10 fish listed then these could be put in a suitable container/bucket why you did it. Appreciate you wanting a back up but worried you'll lose other fish as well :(

seems to be very poor design then, would have thought juwel would have known fish could get in the gaps or output.
I read somewhere that someone had used a credit card to solve this problem.but i cant remember how or where they put it.
