KH drop what to do.......

Helo.....everybody.......

I facing a problem with decreased of KH in my FOWLR (about 6dKH). I always make water changed but I thinks it not an ideal solution. Normally after change of water KH will increase to 8 or 9dKH. It only for 3-4 days, after that KH will drop again.

:help:Hoping an opinion from everyone...........to sole this problem....
 
What kind of salt mix are you using? You may have to look into a KH-buffering supplement to dose every day or two, to maintain your alk.
 
Do you top-off your tank regularly? If so, you can mix an alkalinity supplement into your top-off water (freshwater RO/DI, I'm hoping) to help maintain alkalinity levels. This is what I do, using an auto top-off unit. But, it can just as easily be done with manual top-offs. The exact amount you would want to mix in depends on the tank size and the rate in which alkalinity is consumed in your tank.
 
Baking soda as in Arm & Hammer. It very important NOT to use baking powder.
 
^^^ Yes, and I agree. Baking powder (which you DON'T want to use) contains any number of lovelies that shouldn't be in an aquarium, like calcium phosphate, flour, tartaric acid, and even worse, aluminum salts--the latter of which can be toxic. Just plain food grade Arm & Hammer baking soda.
 
yeah. It's sodium bicarbonate. Kent superbuffer is also a good product, but arm and hammer baking soda also works (as it is pretty much the same thing...)
