killing hydra in a tank with crabs and shrimp?

I've heard of people setting up hydra traps with pantyhose/nylon material with meat (fish/shrimp) wrapped in the pantyhose. When the hydra try to get to the meat, their tentacles and barbs get caught up in the nylon mesh. Then you trash them. Google for more info on these traps.

I also found this snip on a site on how to grow Hydra:

Hydra

Upon receiving, loosen cap and aerate culture with a clean pipet. Hydra should be kept in dim light at a temperature of 21 °C. Too much light will permit algal growth, which is detrimental to the hydras. Culture Hydra in a small aquarium or a large culture dish containing filtered spring or pond water. Do not use tap or deionized water.

It seems that lots of light for longer periods will not be good for the Hydra. And the algae growth would be good for your shrimp.

Hehe, I like that one GoldLenny!

Get rid of them by making your environment better for shrimp.
