Hello,

The girlfriend, aka the wife,....lol wants these

I have a 20 gallon H tank and I am wanting to get (2) Kissing Gourami. I was wondering what fish would be compatible with these??, the petsmart told me that salt was needed so I bought condensing salt, I do believe thats what it was called, Will any other fish live with the salt mixture?? another question is what types of food?? I have flaked tropical food, should I get some brine shrimps?
any and all help is welcome!

While I agree with everything that you said, you need to use periods. Your post was nearly incomprehensible.

Gouramis need no salt in theri water. Kissers get to be 10-12 inches if cared for porperly. The kissing is in fact 2 males fighting. Females are rare. I would only get 2 or more males in a very large tank.

A honey or dwarf gourami is the best choice. And a single male in a 20 gallon would be best.

Salt is good on cooked fish.

I like the dwarf flame gourami; nice size for a 20 as a centerpiece, and still allows some other fish.

Yep, a nice lemon caper sauce, heavy on the salt, smoothering pan seared grouper. yum-yum

sorry it was late

a 20 gallon high is much to small for one kissing gourami, much less two. they grow to over a foot long, ususally more because they live so long. two males will fight, so two kissing gouramis are going to need at least a 125 gallon tank, perferably a 150, that is heavily planted. it is not that females are rare, but it is impossible to recognize males from females.

a pearl gourami or a dwarf gourami would be a much better choice for your tank.

gouramis, and all freshwater fish, do not need the "salt" in their water unless you are treating for ich. most people at petsmarts tell you what they are told, and what they are told is usually inaccurate.

I will never listen to the people at petsmart.....on their tab it says 10+ gal and requires some aquarium salt. The aquarium salt they suggested was condensing salt......their gouramis only grow to about 6" they say due to their breed?? do you think they dont know what they are talking about??? the same thing was for their blue gouramis??
I donno what to do!!!!!

unless they are balloon kissing gouramis, they will grow to over a foot. i know that they are the normal kissing gouramis (well maybe not "normal, because the normal kissing gouramis are green and silver) and will get big.
