About 5 weeks or so ago I took ownership of a small pink kisser> https://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/threads/the-gift-that-keeps-on-giving.286411/#post-2943451

All has been well. It's actually a very enjoyable fish in my setup. The fish has been growing and loves to suck food from the surface as well as skim all the decor and substrate almost constantly. Problem is, it's starting to show signs of bloat, like he's inflating. He's active, but not 'kissing' much and not really feeding. I stopped feeding the tank anyway. Normal feeding is 5x/week with various flake and dry goods. I've never specifically treated for bloat before and considered doing an epsom salt dip on him today, 1 table spoon / gallon in a 5gal bucket of treated, same temperature water. Problem was, I couldn't get him w/out destroying the tank and I'm out of time for now. Have to go to work. I guess I'll have to drop the water level way down and attempt again when I can. Just wanted to get feedback on experiences with an epsom salt dips. Thanks.

I guess I lucked out. I got a good look at the kisser today and he's back down to normal size. Apparently I scared the poop out of him attempting to net him out of the tank yesterday. It was bad. I was wet right up to my armpit, had hatchet fish popping up like popcorn.. etc. Good times.

LOL, sorry Joel, I can just imaging you chasing that Gouramis in your tank.

He probably was just fat, or just had too much to eat. I did not think any fishes besides African Cichlids can get bloat.

PS--Next time, use 2 nets.:D

Thanks Jessica. I did have a net in each hand at one point and still no go! I did manage to deflect a hatchet back into the tank with my chest, which was pretty funny. Totally non-intentional of course, LOL.
