I added two 2" kissing gouramis to my tank in December. One has grown to over 4" and the other has barely grown at all. I've been watching them carefully and the smaller one is not getting bullied. She is eating and they stay together most of the time. The dwarf gouramis don't interact much with them. Other tank mates hanging out at the top of the tank are 4 mollies (1M, 3F). One of the mollies does bully everyone in the tank a bit - but he spreads it around equally to all the other fish!

Why would their growth rates be so different? Should I be concerned?

Thanks!!!

As long as they look healthy, which I think they do, it shouldn't be a problem. Probably the smaller one is less dominant. I have heard they can get pretty aggressive when they get to full maturity, so watch out for that with the mollies.

Or one is a female will always be smaller.

Thanks! Do you know how to tell the sex on the gouramis?

Hard to tell till older and then you still need both. The male has longer and more pointed fins. female is more "rounder", less "football" shape.
