Kitten Born With 2 Faces

The mother likely has killed and consumed it....not an uncommon occurrance, especially with a profoundly deformed kitten that would not survive long anyways.

Too many cats inbreeding, or being exposed to some terrible something-or-other, Id guess. And also the simple fact htat cats multiply SO FAST, that mutations are bound to show up that much more often.

Has anybody here seen a 2-headed arowana? There's a lot of them here in Asia. There was also a boy with 2 heads in our country. The other is active while the other head is like always sleeping, no movement at all but when the boy opens his mouth, both mouths(?) open simultaneously. Lots of freaky things going around nowadays. And I just heard a rumor yesterday that a lion had an offspring with a tiger. Haven't seen a pic or news article yet so I'm not sure. :joke:
When I was in biology (years back) my teacher had a two faced kitten that looked almost exactly like that preserved in a jar. It had died shortly after birth. It was so disturbing. But, they kept it in the lab to view when learning about genetics.
I would think that lots of problems would come into play with digestion if both mouths were eating/nursing- do they meet at the esophogus or the stomach? Or is one esophogus a dead end or may even have mutated to empty into the lungs. I don't know if one stomach could handle it. If the mouths meow in unison that might indicate that there is only one vocal chord, but it is simply giving sound from both openings.
It is true, as Tortois said, that mothers sometimes instinctively eliminate a kitten that won't survive. Or if it passed away she could have eaten it just as a means to dispose of it. I'm not sure how all of those instinctives work. Maybe a science person will come along...
I'm just guessing what could have happened.
Many people don't spay/neuter their pets and some people tend to keep the whole litter and then the mother may breed to her son... etc. The cats don't know the difference. Sometimes there are genetic flukes where a cell may not totally divide.
I have seen a kitten with extra toes that was up for adoption. It got adopted. It only had extra on its front feet. All toes/claws functioned normally.

One of my frineds had 3 cats thats had more toes then normal, on had seven on the front left, 6 on the front right, and normal everywhere else.

Though born in the morning, the kitten did not start nursing until the afternoon and is unlikely to survive for long. It has two muzzles, 2 mouths that mew in unison and 4 eyes. On Saturday July 16th, the kitten apparently vanished from its Grove City home. It had been bottle-fed, due to being unable to suckle from the mother, and had last been seen just after Friday midnight. When checked at 4 a.m. it was not in the bed with the mother (a newborn kitten should have been fed every 2 hours, 4 hours between feeds is too long). There was no sign of the kitten and the family believed it was stolen as one of their doors was unlocked, however their dog did not raise the alarm. The most likely explanation is that the malformed kitten was dying and the mother ate it - this is a normal, natural thing for a mother cat to do."- for copyright see link below or

yeah, they have the Ligers and Tigons in the zoo's all around here. They also have Zebra donkeys.... or Zebra horses, I forget which they mixed with...
